The generic name for novalgine is sodium dipyrone, which is the main component of this medicine in the Sanofi-Aventis laboratory. Sodium dipyrone, in its generic version, is also manufactured by several pharmaceutical laboratories such as Medley, Eurofarma, EMS, Neo Química.
The generic novalgine is indicated as analgesic and antipyretic and can be found in tablet forms, suppositories or injectable solution.

Pain and fever.
Contraindications
Patients with hypersensitivity to dipyrone or any component of the formula, pregnancy, breastfeeding, asthma, 6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, children under 3 months or less than 5 kg, children under 4 years (suppository), Children with less than 1 year (intravenous), porphyria, allergic reaction to drugs, allergy to pyrazolonic derivatives, chronic respiratory infection.
Adverse effects
There may be haematological reactions (reduction of white blood cells), transient low blood pressure, skin manifestations (rash). In isolated cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome or Lyell's syndrome.
How to use
Oral use
- Tablet 1000 mg:
- Adults and adolescents over 15 years: ½ tablet up to 4 times a day or 1 tablet
up to 4 times a day.
- Adults and adolescents over 15 years: ½ tablet up to 4 times a day or 1 tablet
- Tablet 500 mg
- Adults and adolescents over 15 years: 1 to 2 tablets up to 4 times a day.
- Drops:
- Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age:
- 20 to 40 drops in single administration or up to a maximum of 40 drops 4 times a day.

Retal Usage
- Adults and adolescents over 15 years: 1 suppository up to 4 times a day.
- Children over 4 years: 1 suppository up to 4 times a day.
- Children younger than 4 years or under 16 kg should not be treated with suppositories.
Injectable Use
- Adults and adolescents over 15 years: single dose of 2 to 5 ml (intravenous or intramuscular); maximum daily dose of 10 ml.
- Children and infants: Injectable NOVALGIN should be administered intramuscularly only at 1 year of age.
