Indications for cloxazolam
Clozaxolam is indicated for the treatment of cases of anxiety, fear, phobias, tension, restlessness, loss of physical vitality and depressive symptoms, social maladaptation, difficulty sleeping or interrupted sleep and early awakening, feelings of oppression and certain types of pain and for the auxiliary treatment in psychic illnesses, mental retardation, psychoses and geriatric disorders.
Mode of use of cloxazolam
The starting dose for patients with mild or moderate disorders is 1 to 3 mg daily, divided into 2 or 3 daily doses, according to medical advice. Already patients with moderate to severe disorders should ingest 2 to 6 mg daily, divided into 2 or 3 doses daily.
Maintenance dose
The doses should be adjusted by the physician throughout the treatment, depending on the response, being made as follows:
- For mild to moderate cases: 2 to 6 mg, fractionated in 2 or 3 doses, with the highest dose given at night.
- For severe cases, 6 to 12 mg daily, divided into 2 or 3 doses, the highest dose administered at night.

The main side effects of cloxazolam include decreased appetite, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth and excessive tiredness.
Contraindications of cloxazolam
Cloxazolam is contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as in cases of severe central nervous system depression, myasthenia gravis, allergy to benzodiazepine derivatives or other components of the formula, in lung disease such as severe respiratory failure, kidney or liver problems and in patients with sleep apnea syndrome.
