Alfuzosin

Alfuzosin is the substance used to treat the symptoms of urinary obstruction in cases of benign enlargements of the prostate. Alfuzosin also acts as an antihypertensive agent.

Xatral is a medicine that uses alfuzosin as an active substance. It works by reducing the pressure of the urethra and thus decreasing the resistance to urinary flow.

The medicine should not be broken or chewed.

Indications

Benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Side effects

Headache; dizziness; tiredness; upper airway infection.

Contraindications

It is not suitable for women; severe decrease in liver function; hx of orthostatic hypotension associated with other alpha-blockers.

How to use

Adults: 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg in the evening. (Long-acting tablets)

Elderly or hypertensive: 2.5 mg in the morning and 2.5 mg in the evening, adjust the dose according to the patient's actual, reaching a maximum of 5 mg twice a day. In the elderly do not exceed 10 mg / day. (simple pills)
