After childbirth it is normal for the intestinal transit to be a bit slower than normal, causing constipation and some anxiety in the woman who does not want to force herself to evacuate in fear of the stitches opening. In order for the new mother to be more relaxed, it is good to know that:
- The points due to the normal birth will not be affected by the passage of the feces and in a few days everything will return to normal;
- The first bowel movements can cause some discomfort, causing intestinal colic, but this is normal;
- The softer the stool is, the less strength you have to do.
The first evacuation may take longer than expected and in this case when the doctor actually diagnoses constipation may indicate the use of a laxative or even the use of an enema, even in the hospital, because normally the woman only has discharge after being able to evacuate normally.
Natural solutions to loosen the intestine
To release the bowel by fighting constipation, a woman should drink plenty of water and consume a greater amount of fiber in every meal she makes because there is an increase in the faecal cake, without it becoming dry, passing easily through the intestine. So some tips are:
- Prepare 2 liters of Sene's tea, which is a natural laxative, to take as a substitute for water, ingesting slowly throughout the day;
- Take plum water in a fast, for this just put 1 plum in 1 cup of water and leave to soak overnight;
- Eat natural yogurt whipped with papaya, oatmeal and honey for breakfast or one of the snacks;
- Eat at least 3 fruits a day, preferring those that loosen the intestine like mango, tangerine, kiwi, papaya, plum or grapes in shell;
- Add 1 tablespoon of seeds, such as flaxseed, sesame or pumpkin at each meal;
- Always eat 1 plate of raw salad or with cooked vegetables, per day;
- Walk for at least 30 minutes followed by day;
- Introduce 1 suppository of glycerin in the anus to evacuate, only if following all these strategies, not being able to evacuate, having the stool very dry.
It is also important to avoid consuming foods that hold the intestine like cornstarch, banana, white bread with butter and less nutritious foods such as those rich in starch and fat. Soft drinks should also not be consumed, but freshly squeezed half-lemon water may be an option to accompany the main meals of the day.
Daily use of laxatives is discouraged because they can cause bowel addiction, so its use is only advised when it is necessary to empty the bowel to perform some examination indicated by the doctor or when the person can not poop for more than 7 days, because in this case there may be intestinal obstruction.
To massage the belly
Massage the abdominal region also helps to empty the intestine faster, just press the region near the navel on the left side of the body in the same direction as the image:
This massage should be done, especially after waking up, when the person is lying on the belly bed up because it has a better effect. Pressing the abdominal region for about 7 to 10 minutes may be enough to feel like evacuating.
To poop in the right position
When sitting in the pot you should put some stool under your feet so that your knees are higher than normal. In this position the stool passes better through the intestine and is easier to evacuate, without having to do much force.
