The main symptoms of beach mycosis, or white cloth, are:
- Light spots on the skin of various size;
- Fine peeling;
- Tingling sensation;
- It may be itchy on spots spots.
Symptoms may vary as individuals with darker skin tend to have lighter patches, and light-skinned individuals may manifest spots that are darker than their own skin tone.
These symptoms usually appear on the neck, chest, hands and arms, but they can affect the whole body when they are not properly treated.
Beach ringworm can affect individuals of all ages, including infants.
Transmission of the ringworm
Although the name suggests, the transmission of the ringworm is not caused by the beach or swimming pool. What happens is that the fungus that causes the beach mycosis usually inhabits the human skin, but when it is very prolific, and the individual is exposed to the sun, the areas with there fungi do not get tanned, generating the stained appearance.
