An excellent home remedy for skin burns caused by the sun or contact with hot water or oil is the banana peel as it relieves pain and prevents the formation of blisters. But other good choices are slug and lettuce leaves, for example.
Before using a home remedy the most important is to remove the clothes that are on the place, as long as they are not glued to the wound, and put the skin burned under cold water for about 20 minutes. See the step-by-step of what to do when you burn.
Ideally, home remedies should only be used when skin is integrated, since if there are wounds, there is a greater risk of infection, and the treatment should always be done by a nurse.
1. Banana peel
The banana peel has a substance called leucocianidine that is widely used in the treatment of wounds and burns and therefore can be used as a home remedy to accelerate healing and prevent blisters.
Ingredient

Method of preparation
Place the inside of the banana peel over the burn and then cover with a sterile gauze. Replace bark if necessary after 2 hours. Repeat the procedure several times a day.
2. Slug gel
Slug poultice is an excellent natural remedy for burns because this plant has, inside its leaves, a gel that is moisturizing and soothing to the skin, helping in the healing and reducing the pain of the burn.
Ingredient
- 1 leaf slug
Method of preparation
Remove the spines and cut the sheet in half lengthwise. Then scrape the gel, which is inside the sheet, and place it on a sterile dressing or gauze, covering the following skin. This poultice should be changed at least 2 times a day.
3. Lettuce poultice
Another good home remedy for burns is the cataplasm of lettuce, especially in case of sunburn, as this is a vegetable with properties that help rejuvenate the skin and relieve the symptoms of burn due to its analgesic action.
Ingredients
- 3 leaves of lettuce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Method of preparation
Macere the lettuce leaves with the olive oil and then place the mixture in a sterile compress and apply on the burn. The poultice should be changed twice a day.
These home remedies are indicated to treat small and light burns because the most severe burns require medical or nursing care. The benefits of curcumin, the main ingredient of saffron in the burn, are being studied, and excellent results have been studied, but curcumin-based ointment is not yet ready to be marketed.
