There are medicinal plants that are great for decreasing intestinal cramps, such as lemon balm, peppermint, calamo or fennel, for example, that can be used to make teas. In addition, you can also apply heat in the area, which also helps relieve discomfort.
1. Lemon balm tea
A great home remedy for bowel colic, caused by intestinal gas, is the infusion of lemon balm, as this medicinal plant has soothing and anti-spasmodic properties that decrease pain and facilitate the elimination of feces.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon of lemongrass leaves;
- 1 cup boiling water.
Method of preparation
Put the lemon balm flowers in a cup, cover with boiling water and let stand for 10 minutes. Afterwards, you should strain and drink the following, without sugaring, as the sugar ferments and increases the production of gases that can worsen intestinal colic.
It is also recommended to drink plenty of water and increase the consumption of foods rich in fiber such as flaxseed, chia seeds and bread with cereals, to increase the fecal cake and facilitate its exit, as well as the gases present in the intestine.
2. Peppermint tea, calamus and fennel
These medicinal plants have antispasmodic properties, relieving intestinal cramps and poor digestion.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon peppermint;
- 1 teaspoon calamo;
- 1 teaspoon of fennel;
- 1 cup boiling water.
Method of preparation
Put the herbs in a cup, cover with boiling water and let stand for 10 minutes. Afterwards, you should strain and drink about 3 times a day before main meals.
3. Warm water bottle
A great solution to relieve intestinal cramps is to put a warm water bottle in the abdomen, letting it act until it cools.
