To decrease airflow, which is the act of swallowing air and one of the most common causes of belching and flatulence, it is necessary to:
- Speak less;
- Eat slow;
- Avoid chewing chewing gum;
- Avoid drinking drinks with gas.
These techniques help to decrease the amount of swallowed air, when talking or eating, and so are a great way to avoid the discomfort and pain of gas build-up.
Other ways to reduce the formation of gases
Swallowing air makes the belly swollen, especially at the end of the day and can cause a full stomach sensation. This swallowed air is usually eliminated in the form of belching or flatulence.
However, the belly swollen by gases can also happen due to the fermentation of intestinal bacteria and not just the swallowed air. Therefore, foods like egg, beans or sweet potatoes are good examples of flatulent foods that should be avoided to decrease the formation of gases.
