Sucupira is a large tree that has medicinal properties and therefore can be used to relieve the pain and inflammation of the body. It belongs to the Fabaceae family, and is also known as Cutiúba, Supupina-do-campo, Sicupira, Sicupira-do-cerrado, Sucupira-açu or Sicupira-parda, being widely used to make home remedies.
The scientific name of the white sucupira is Pterodon pubescens and the name of the black sucupira Bowdichia major Mart . Its in natura seeds can be bought in some markets and supermarkets, while sucupira in capsules can be found in natural products stores or manipulating pharmacies, for example.
What is it for and what are the main benefits
The sucupira helps:
- Decrease inflammation in the joints and, therefore, is used to treat arthritis, arthrosis, rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis;
- Relieve the pain caused by problems such as excessive uric acid and inflammation;
- Fighting tonsillitis, pain relief;
- Helps heal ovarian cysts and uterus and fight cramps;
- Helps heal skin sores, eczema, blackheads and bleeding.
In some cases, this tea may still help relieve the constant pain and discomfort caused by chemotherapy used in cancer treatment.

The main properties of sucupira include its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic and antioxidant action. In addition the sucupira seeds have antitumor action, especially against prostate cancer, but should only be consumed with the knowledge of the oncologist doctor.
How to use sucupira
Sucupira can be found in the form of tea, capsules, extract and oil. And it can be used as follows:
- Sucupira seed tea: Wash 4 sucupira seeds and break them using a kitchen hammer. Then boil the broken seeds together with 1 liter of water for 10 minutes, strain and drink throughout the day.
- Sucupira in capsules: take 2 capsules daily for a better effect. Know when to use the capsules is more appropriate.
- Sucupira oil: Take 3 to 5 drops per day to eat with food, 1 drop directly in the mouth, up to 5 times a day;
- Sucupira seed extract: take 0.5 to 2 ml per day;
- Sucupira tincture: take 20 drops, 3 times a day.
If you choose to make the tea, you should use a pot only for this purpose because the oil released by the plant's seeds is stuck to the walls of the pot and difficult to eliminate completely.

Sucupira has no side effects and is well tolerated.
Who should not use
Sucupira is contraindicated for pregnant women, infants and children under 12 years of age, and should be used sparingly by people with kidney or liver problems.
