The flat condyloma corresponds to large, elevated and gray lesions in the fold regions, which arise as a result of infection by the bacterium Treponema pallidum, which is responsible for syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection.
Flat condyloma is a sign indicative of secondary syphilis, in which the bacterium, after a period of inactivity, becomes active again and leads to the appearance of more generalized symptoms. It is important that the infectious disease specialist is consulted in order to make the diagnosis and start treatment with antibiotics in order to promote the cure of the disease.
Symptoms of flat condyloma
Flat condyloma is one of the characteristic symptoms of secondary syphilis, being characterized by skin lesions, large and gray that usually appear in the fold regions. If these lesions are present in the anus, it is also possible that the condyloma shows signs of irritation and inflammation, and is also rich in bacteria.
The symptoms of secondary syphilis appear about 6 weeks after the disappearance of the lesions present in the primary syphilis and in addition to the flat condyloma it is possible to check the swelling of the tongue, headache and muscle, malaise, low fever, loss of appetite, and appearance red spots on the body.
It is common for the symptoms of secondary syphilis to appear in outbreaks that regress spontaneously, that is, the symptoms may appear periodically and disappear, however it does not mean that after the disappearance of the symptoms the bacteria has been eliminated. How the treatment is done
Treatment for flat condyloma aims to promote symptom relief by combating the infectious agent, requiring antibiotics. The doctor usually recommends 2 injections of benzathine penicillin of 1200000 IU per week for three weeks, however the dose and duration of treatment may vary according to the severity of the other symptoms presented by the person.
