Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by Candida albicans, which mainly affects the mouth and genitals, causing itching, burning, pain and lumpy white discharge, with textured cream or milk.
This disease is manifested when the immune system is weakened or when changes in the pH of the genital area occur and can be treated with ointment or antifungal medicines, as directed by the physician.
The following are tips that help heal and prevent a new candidiasis:
1. If you wash only once a day
The intimate area should be washed only during bathing, avoiding showers when using the toilet, as this changes the local pH and promotes the proliferation of the fungus that causes candidiasis. Women should also clean the area from front to back, avoiding fecal contamination, using neutral soaps, and avoiding the use of tampons.
2. Wear loose clothing
Light and cotton clothes allow the skin to breathe and make the fungus of candidiasis not develop as much as it does when wearing tight clothing, because the heat of the region favors the proliferation of the fungus.
3. Do not get wet
After the beach or pool, you should dry the intimate area and change clothes as quickly as possible, as humidity helps the fungus develop further.
Using condoms in intimate relationships Change wet clothing for dry clothing as soon as possible4. Always use a condom
The condom should be used during relationships between people who are on candidiasis treatment or who present the symptoms, to avoid contamination of the partner.
5. Do not eat sugar and carbohydrates
Foods like bread, cheese, chocolate, cakes and sweets increase the amount of sugar in the blood and favor the development of fungi. Preference should be given to foods that strengthen the immune system, such as fruits, vegetables, fish and nuts. See the following video for what to eat:
6. Drink echinacea tea
Echinacea tea should be drunk at least 3 times a week as it strengthens the immune system and reduces the development of candidiasis. See more in Echinacea.
