Psoriasis is a genetically determined skin disease that has a family history in 70% of cases. Its causes have not yet been fully clarified, but it is known that it is possible to avoid worsening of the lesions and also prevent their reappearance.
Therefore, the prevention of new psoriasis crises can be done as follows:
- Avoid excessive exposure to the sun, as sunburn strikes the skin and may trigger a new outbreak of the disease;
- Avoid viral infections such as influenza virus, for example, which can lead to the onset of psoriasis due to vulnerability of the immune system;
- Avoid stressful situations, such as family conflicts, overwork and sudden changes in routine;
- Avoid drugs, such as alcohol and cigarettes;
- Avoid cold weather whenever possible, since psoriasis can worsen in the winter;
- Avoid physical or emotional trauma;
- Avoid taking medications such as antimalarials, lithium-containing medicines, beta-blockers, and some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
- Have a good diet by investing in the consumption of orange foods and foods rich in omega 3.
Another good tip is to exercise regularly, which in addition to strengthening muscles, joints and the immune system, can also de-stress and rest the mind.
Psoriasis is a chronic and non-contagious disease, characterized by the presence of reddening and scaly plaques on the skin. Their treatment does not lead to cure, but, like methods of prevention, helps to maintain control of the disease.
