Didanosine is the active substance of an antiretroviral drug known commercially as Videx.
It is an oral medication that is indicated for advanced HIV infection, since its action is to incorporate into the DNA of HIV, preventing this viral chain from multiplying and further worsening the infection.
Indications of Didanosine
Advanced HIV infection (human immunodeficiency virus) in patients who do not tolerate or do not respond to zidovudine (AZT).

Mode of Use of Didanosine
Oral use
On an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meal), together with 1 glass of water. Do not take the product with fruit juice or sour drinks.
Adults
- 75 kg body weight or more: 300 mg every 12 hours (tablets).
- 50 to 74 kg of body weight: 200 mg every 12 hours (tablets).
- 35 to 49 kg of body weight : 125 mg every 12 hours (tablets).
