This technique called 3 Day Potty Training, created by Lora Jensen, promises to help parents take off their baby's diaper in just 3 days. It is a strategy with firm and objective rules that must be followed for three days so that the child can learn to pee and poop in the bathroom without trauma.
When to take off the baby's diaper
To get the diaper out of the baby in 3 days, the baby has to be over 22 months old, not to nurse at night, walk well alone and know how to communicate so that the mother can realize that he needs to go to the bathroom, it is possible to adopt this technique and the baby can pee and poop in the toilet.
Rules to get the diaper out of the baby in 3 days:
- Only 1 person, preferably the mother or the father, should apply this technique and be responsible for the baby during the 3 days in a row;
- On these days it is recommended that the mother or father always stay home with the baby, avoiding leaving and leaving meals already ready to have as few tasks as possible. Doing this using the weekend can be a good solution;
- If you have tried another technique to unroll the baby, you should wait at least 1 month to do this new technique, so that the baby begins to learn it without resisting and without associating it in a negative way with the last attempts ;
- Have a potty at home, which should be in the bathroom near the toilet or a staircase with a reducer for the child to climb the toilet;
- Have about 20 to 30 panties or underwear at home to swap every time your baby pees or poops in the "wrong place";
- Have adhesive stickers or something that your child likes to give as a prize whenever she can go to the bathroom and pee or poop in the toilet.
Step by step to take the baby diaper in 3 days
The following list shows what to do to get the baby diaper in 3 days:
- After waking the baby at the same time he usually gets up and eating breakfast normally with him, take off the baby's diaper and wear only a shirt and a pair of underwear or panties;
- The mother and the baby should throw together in the trash the diaper that the baby is using and all the others left over even if they are clean so the baby understands what is happening. From this moment, no more diapers should be placed on the baby during the 3 days, even to sleep;
- Play normally with the baby, being always on his side and giving water, teas or fruit juice during the day so that he feels like going in the bathroom;
- Meals should be made with the baby and be prepared, preferably for the mother not to "spend" cooking time;
- During the day, remind the baby that if he wants to pee or poop, he should tell the mother or father to go to the bathroom, avoiding asking if he wants to go in the bathroom or if he wants to pee or poop;
- Every time a baby pees or poop on the potty or toilet, praise it and give it a prize like a stick figure or something he likes very much;
- Immediately take the baby to the bathroom when he sees that he is peeing and every time he can do the rest of the pee in the potty or toilet, give a prize;
- In cases where the baby does all the pee or poop in his underwear or panties, talk quietly with him, explain that he should pee or poop in the bathroom and change his underwear or panties for a new one, in a tone of information and not of anger ;
- Before the afternoon and evening nap, before bedtime, take the child in the bathroom to pee or poop, not waiting more than 5 minutes;
- Waking the baby only once at night to go to the bathroom, not waiting more than 5 minutes even if he does not pee or poop in the potty or toilet;
- In the other 2 days wake the baby in the morning 1 hour before the usual time to take him in the bathroom.
This whole process must be done during the 3 days in a row and the mother or father who will do this technique should be dedicated at all times so that, according to Lora Jensen, it is possible to take the baby's diaper in just 3 days .
