The main cause of green discharge in women is trichomoniasis infection. This sexually transmitted disease, in addition to causing the discharge, can still lead to the appearance of foul smell and itching in the vagina, causing much discomfort.
Although the infection needs to be treated with antibiotics and other remedies prescribed by the gynecologist, while waiting for the consultation there are some home remedies that can help alleviate the discomfort at home.

1. Guava tea
A good home remedy for greenish discharge is guava leaf tea. It is a medicinal plant that has antibacterial properties that act against the protozoa that cause trichomoniasis.
Ingredients
- 1 liter of water;
- 3 or 4 dried guava leaves.
Method of preparation
Put the water in a pan and let it boil. After turning off the heat, add the dried guava leaves, cover and set aside for 15 minutes. Finally, strain the mixture and drink 3 cups a day or when you feel more discomfort.
2. Malaleuca essential oil
Malaleuca, also known as tea tree, is a medicinal plant that has excellent antimicrobial and antibiotic properties, capable of eliminating some of the bacteria responsible for infections in the intima. That way, it can be used in seat baths to relieve the symptoms of vaginal infections, such as itching or foul smelling, for example.
Ingredients
- Malaleuca essential oil;
- Sweet almond oil.
Method of preparation
Mix about 10 ml of each type of oil and then pass into the region of the vagina. It is possible that the first application feels a slight burning, but if it takes time to disappear or if it is very intense, the region should be washed immediately with water and a soap of neutral pH.
3. Bergamot seat bath
Bergamot is a fruit with antibacterial property that is widely used to help treat vaginal infections more quickly by trichomoniasis.
Ingredients
- 30 drops of bergamot essential oil;
- 1 liter of water.
Method of preparation
Put 1 to 2 liters of warm water in a bowl and then mix the drops of bergamot essential oil. Finally, take a shower and pass the water through the intimate region to eliminate excess bacteria in the area. This seat bath can be done up to 2 times a day.
