The pasty diet has a soft consistency and therefore is indicated mainly after digestive system surgeries such as gastroplasty or bariatric surgery, for example. In addition, this diet facilitates the entire process of digestion because it slows down the bowel's effort to digest food.
In addition to cases of surgery, this diet is also used in patients who have difficulties in chewing or swallowing food due to inflammation or mouth sores, use of dental prosthesis, severe mental retardation or in cases of diseases such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), for example.
Foods allowed in the pasty diet
Foods allowed in the pasty diet are cereals, fruits and vegetables without eggshell, egg, fish or poultry meat that can be processed into purees, liquefied or mashed, such as:
- Mingaus of corn starch, oats or cream of rice;
- Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots or fruit juice and vegetables;
- All fruits in the form of puree, without skin or fruit juice;
- Milk, beaten yogurt, cottage cheese or ricotta ricotta;
- Meat, fish and poultry in the form of mashed or shredded, without skin;
- Scrambled eggs soft or poached, in the form of puree;
- Gelatin, ice cream, jelly, honey, pudding;
- Butter, sour cream, olive oil and coconut oil.
The pasty diet is more attractive and better tolerated when foods are put in the pasty consistency separately rather than all mixed together.
Foods prohibited in the pasty diet
The forbidden foods in the pasty diet are hard, crunchy and dry foods. Some examples are dried fruits like nuts and peanuts, coconut, biscuits and foods of difficult digestion, like breaded, fried or inlaid foods, such as sausage, sausage and ham.
Yogurt with fruit pieces, fruit with bagasse and rind, raw leafy vegetables and seeded foods are also not advised. See more about Food after Bariatric Surgery.

- 1 tsp ground cinnamon powder
- 1 tablespoon of sugar dessert
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 slice of chopped bread
- Half a cup of milk
- 1 egg beaten lightly
- 2 drops vanilla essence
Method of preparation:
Mix cinnamon and sugar. Grease a small shape with a little butter or olive oil. Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture on the bottom of the shape and add the chopped bread. In another container, mix the milk with the egg, the vanilla and the salt. Then pour the mixture over the bread, mixing well. Put this mixture in the form and bake in a water bath for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the pudding.
Cream of vegetables and chicken
This cream is easy to digest and can be used for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients:
- 3 medium potatoes
- 2 steaks or potatoes baroa
- 2 small carrots
- 1 small onion
- 500 g of shredded chicken breast
- Green smell
- Olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic
- Salt to taste
- Grated or grated cheese (optional)
Method of preparation:
Peel and cut the vegetables. Put the olive oil and garlic in a pressure cooker, then add the diced vegetables and the onion cream. Cover with boiling water until the vegetables are completely covered and the pan is covered.
Leave on pressure for 8 minutes and remove. After opening the pan, remove the vegetables with the broth and beat in the blender for 2 minutes.
In a saucepan, sauté the chicken breast with salt to taste, olive oil and onion. Pour the broth over the chicken and stir well, turning off the fire and sprinkling green scent on top. If necessary, beat the mixture with the chicken in the blender too. Serve with grated cheese (optional).
Banana Smoothie
The banana smoothie can be used as an icy and refreshing snack, which also kills the craving for sweets.
Ingredients:
- 1 slice of mango
- 1 jar of natural yogurt
- 1 frozen banana in slices
- 1 tablespoon honey
Method of preparation:
Remove the banana from the freezer and let the ice drop for about 10 to 15 minutes, or place the frozen slices for 15 seconds in the microwave to make it easier to hit. Beat all the ingredients in the blender or with the hand mixer.
