Female hair loss, also called alopecia, can occur for a variety of reasons and knowing how to identify them is necessary for treatment to be targeted and effective.
The treatment can be done in many ways, from simple feeding, ingestion of food supplements, application of products on the scalp or even, in more severe cases, taking specific medicines.
What causes
There are several causes that can lead to hair loss in women, and it is very important to identify them as soon as possible:
- Anemia;
- Stress;
- Inflammation on the scalp;
- Cigarette smoke, which accumulates in the hair;
- Poor quality hair treatment, such as use of staining, permanent or straightening;
- Use of hairstyles that "pull" much to the root;
- Genetic factors;
- Chemotherapy;
- Hormonal changes, such as menopause and postpartum;
- Treatment with medicines such as warfarin, heparin, propylthiouracil, carbimazole, vitamin A, isotretinoin, acitretin, lithium, beta blockers, colchicine, amphetamines and anticancer drugs.
Female hair loss can also be caused by breastfeeding because at this stage the body uses micronutrients to produce breast milk and sometimes these nutrients may not be enough to make milk and keep hair healthy.
How is the treatment done?
To treat hair loss in women, one should do a good diet, take dietary supplements and remedies specific to the type of hair loss and use products that are applied directly on the scalp or aesthetic treatments such as mesotherapy and capillary carboxytherapy. See capillary carboxytherapy.
At a medical appointment, the dermatologist should identify the cause of the hair loss and then indicate the best form of treatment.
Remedies for Female Hair Loss
A good remedy for female hair loss is Minoxidil, which works by improving blood circulation in the scalp, reducing hair loss, but usually it is used in combination with other medicines to achieve satisfactory results. Other examples of remedies for female hair loss are:
- Zymo HSOR
- Finasteride
- 17 Alfa Estradiol
- Gel FF
- Revivogen
- Auxina Tricógena
- Follicusan
These remedies are effective against alopecia but should only be used under prescription from the dermatologist. See also Remedies for baldness.
What food is to be done?
The secret of feeding against female hair loss is in increasing the consumption of foods rich in protein and selenium, an important mineral for the formation of skin, hair and nails.
Some examples of high-protein foods are all animal foods and selenium-rich foods are brown nuts and wheat flour, but since excess selenium can be harmful to the body, it is advised to consume only 1 horse-chestnut per day as a form of supplementation of this mineral.
