Smoothing with formalin is contraindicated because it can penetrate the body through the placenta or breast milk and cause damage to the baby, such as leukemia. Therefore, Anvisa prohibited the use of formaldehyde smoothing over 0.2%.

- brush making;
- using the flat iron.
