Clarithromycin is an antibacterial, either orally or intravenously. It can be found commercially under the names Klaricid, Clamicin, Claritab or Helicocid.
Indications
Tonsillitis; pharyngitis; upper and lower airway infection; skin and soft tissue infection; orofacial infection (by anaerobic and Gram-positive cocci); pneumonia; sinusitis.
Side effects
Oral: diarrhea; stomach ache; Headache; indigestion; nausea; altered taste
Injectable use: inflammation; sensitivity; phlebitis; change in taste; Headache; transient elevation of hepatic enzymes.
Contraindications
Allergy to macrolide antibiotic such as erythromycin; linconicin; clindamycin. Pregnancy risk C; breast-feeding
