Lipoenxertia is a plastic surgery technique that uses the body's own fat to fill, define or volume certain parts of the body, such as breasts, buttocks, around the eyes, lips, chin or thighs, for example.
To perform this technique it is necessary to remove fat from other regions of the body where it is in excess, such as belly, back or thighs for example. For this is performed a liposuction that removes localized fat from unwanted sites and also helps to sculpt, sharpen and define the region where it is performed.
In addition to lipoenxertia, which helps to give volume to certain areas of the body, a similar and much sought after procedure is liposculpture, which uses localized fat to redistribute along the contour in the body, creating a more harmonic and aesthetically proportional silhouette. Learn more about what liposculpture is and how it is made.
Using fat grafting is a strategy performed by the plastic surgeon in hospitals, and its price varies greatly depending on the type of surgery, the location where it is made, and the medical team that will perform the procedure.
What is it for
This technique is indicated for people who are dissatisfied with their appearance or with some region of their body. Some of the main indications are:
1. In the breasts
The grafting of the fat itself into the breasts can be done to increase the volume or soften the appearance of the silicone prosthesis, giving a more natural appearance, or to correct minor defects and asymmetries.

2. In buttocks
This technique is also indicated to increase the size of the glutes, to correct asymmetries, differences in the sizes or defects in the buttocks. It can also extend to the thighs for greater definition and volume.

3. In the face
Used to attenuate wrinkles or facial expression lines, such as the "Chinese mustache", or to restore facial or cheek volume.

In addition, lipoenxertia can be made in any region of the body, and can be used even used to increase or define the large labia.
How is the application of the body fat itself
Taking advantage of one's own body fat should be done by a plastic surgeon who will start by selecting and suctioning fat from certain donor body parts such as thighs or tummy, for example through performing liposuction.
Thereafter, the collected fat is treated and purified so as to remove blood and other cellular debris. When the fat is treated and ready, it will then be grafted into the desired region using fine needles, by performing microinjections.
The entire procedure is done under local anesthesia, with or without sedation, causing no pain or discomfort. Generally, only a few hours of hospitalization is required, up to a maximum of 2 or 3 days.
How recovery and healing works
The recovery of Lipoenxertia is quite fast, with symptoms such as mild pain, minor discomfort, swelling or hematoma. These symptoms generally disappear at the end of 3 or 4 weeks, and it is recommended to rest and avoid efforts in the first month of recovery.
The first 3 days of recovery may be the most painful, and in these cases the doctor may indicate taking analgesic remedies to relieve pain and discomfort senses.
