This medicine can not be bought in conventional pharmacies, only being offered by the SUS in the hospital, after the diagnosis of the disease.
What is it for
Dapsone is indicated for the treatment of all forms of leprosy, also known as leprosy, and dermatitis herpetiformis.
How to take
The use of this medicinal product should always be directed by a physician. However, general indications indicate:
Leprosy
- Adults: 1 tablet daily;
- Children: 1 to 2 mg per kg daily.
Dermatitis herpetiformis
In such cases, the dose should be adjusted according to the response of each organism, and usually the treatment is started at a dose of 50 mg per day, which can be increased up to 300 mg.
Possible side effects
The most common side effects include dark spots on the skin, anemia, frequent infections, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, tingling, insomnia and liver changes.
Who can not take
This medicine should not be used in cases of severe anemia or advanced renal amyloidosis, as well as in case of allergy to any component of the formula.
