Elbow displacement is an elbow injury, quite common in children, which occurs when the individual is suspended by only one arm, for example.
Although quite painful, elbow displacement is a simple lesion that can be treated, as follows:
- Pick up the subject's arm with the palm of the hand facing down, as shown in figure 1;
- Hold the arm and forearm and pull it slightly, to create space in the joint, as shown in figure 2;
- Place the hand of the person facing up and at the same time bend the arm, trying to place the hand on the arm, as in image 3.
The elbow is positioned when a slight snap is heard and the subject is able to move the arm without pain.
If there is no certainty about the type of injury, it is safest to take the victim to the doctor immediately.
