Cefotaxime is an injectable drug commercially known as Calforan.
This medicine is an antibacterial, which acts to eliminate the bacteria of the body, being very effective in treating the symptoms of gonorrhea, meningitis and joint infections.
Indications of Cefotaxime
Skin and soft tissue infection; abdominal infection; infection in the female reproductive organs; urinary infection; pneumonia; gonorrhea; infections after surgery; joint infection; bone infection; meningitis.

How to use Cefotaxime
Injectable use
Adults
- Bacterial infection : Administer 1 g, every 6 or 8 hours.
Children
- Bacterial infection : Administer 20 to 40 mg per kg body weight, every 6 to 8 hours.
Cefotoxime may be administered intramuscularly or intravenously.
