Ambroxol, commercially known as Mucosolvan, Anabron, Broncoflux, Fluxol or Mucolin, is an expectorant drug that works by decreasing the amount of secretions present in the respiratory system, reducing nasal congestion and facilitating breathing.
This medication can be used through oral use or inhalation, being effective in the treatment of bronchitis and asthma.
Indications of Ambroxol
Chronic bronchitis; acute bronchitis; asthmatic bronchitis; tracheobronchitis; phlegm in the chest; throat irritation.
Side Effects of Ambroxol
Diarrhea; nausea; vomiting; breathing difficulties during inhalation.
Contraindications of Ambroxol
Avoid during the first 3 months of pregnancy.
How to use Ambroxol
Oral use
Adults
- Use 30 mg of ambroxol 3 times daily.
Children
- Less than 2 years of age: Ambroxol 7.5 mg twice daily;
- From 2 to 5 years of age: 7.5 mg of ambroxol, 3 times daily;
- Over 5 years: 15 mg of ambroxol 3 times daily.
Inhalation use
Adults
- Inhale 15 to 22.5 mg of ambroxol twice daily;
Children
- Less than 2 years of age: Inhale 7.5 mg of ambroxol twice daily;
- From 2 to 5 years of age: Inhale 7.5 mg of ambroxol 3 times daily;
- Over 5 years: Inhale 15 mg of ambroxol 3 times daily.
