At menopause the skin undergoes changes and tends to become less hydrated and more flaccid, with a greater tendency to wrinkles due to the decrease of about 30% in collagen caused by the low estrogen production in the woman's ovary. And so at this stage the daily care is so important for the woman to keep the clean firm and moisturized.
Some important care is to increase the consumption of foods rich in collagen such as jelly and squash jelly, invest in moisturizing creams with collagen, elastin, vitamin C and also in food supplements like hydrolyzed collagen. Collagen is important because it is it that gives support to the skin, decreasing sagging, lines of expression and wrinkles. Here's how to take hydrolyzed collagen.
Daily care with mature skin
To treat menopausal skin, the woman can follow some tips, such as:
- Apply moisturizing cream, such as Avéne, Roc or La Roche, after bath while the skin is still moist. See a good homemade mask to rejuvenate the skin.
- Use sunscreen with a minimum factor of 15, such as Roc, Avéne or La Roche, to protect the skin from the sun's rays;
- Pass a tonic lotion, such as RoC, Vichy or Eucerin, on the skin morning and evening, as they remove excess fat and balance the pH;
- Do exfoliation of the skin, 2 times a month, with sweet almond oil and sugar, to remove dead skin cells;
- Eat foods rich in vitamin A, C or E such as orange, hazelnuts or red berries as they help to maintain healthy skin. See Foods for Perfect Skin.
- Drink at least 1.5 liter of water per day.
In addition to these care the woman can also look for a dermatologist who may indicate other more intense treatments such as Botox injections, hyaluronic acid filling, chemical peeling, pulsed light treatment, dermabrasion or even plastic surgery to reduce the effects of age on the skin .
