Hair removal with a line, also known as waxing or Egyptian hair removal is a very effective technique to eliminate all the hairs of any region of the body, such as face or groin, without leaving the skin irritated, bruised or red, which is common with the use of other techniques such as wax or blade, in addition to slowing the growth of the hair.
Although it can be made in any region of the body, this Egyptian technique is most commonly used on the most delicate parts of the body, such as eyebrow, fluff or facial hair, and is made with a thin 100% cotton stitching line that is twisted forming an eight and slid over the skin, to remove the hair.

How to prepare the line for epilation
The first step to perform this technique is to cut the cotton or polyester line and for this, it is necessary to:
- Measure the line from the wrist to the shoulder, which can range from about 20 to 40 cm;
- Join the ends of the line, giving 2 or 3 knots, for the line to be firm;
- Form a rectangle with the line, placing three fingers on each side of the line;
- Twist the line by crossing it in half about 5 times to form an eight.
The line should always be cotton or polyester to avoid lesions on the skin and preferably white to see the hair well.
The regions of the body that can be depilated with line are the face: eyebrows, fluff and side of the face, beard, and also the armpits, legs and groin.
How to wax with line correctly
After preparing the line one should choose a comfortable position and start the removal of the hair. Thus, it is necessary to:
- Spray talc on the skin to absorb the oiliness of the skin, facilitate the movement of the line, and help make the hair more visible;
- Stretch the skin to facilitate removal of the skin and decrease the pain. For example, to remove the corner of the fluff the tongue should be placed against the cheek, and to remove the central part of the fluff should press the lower lip against the upper, and in the case of the lower part of the eyebrow can close the eye, pulling the eyelid upwards;
- Place the part of the twisted line over the part of the body that you want to remove the hair;
- Open and close the fingers of only 1 hand, as if using a pair of scissors. Remember that the hair has to stay inside the larger part of the opening of the line so it can be removed. This step is most time-consuming, and should be repeated until the hairs are completely removed from any desired region.
- You can use a latex glove to avoid damaging the skin during epilation.
After epilation it is important to take care of the skin by passing a moisturizing cream with soothing action.
