Hydralazine is a medicine known commercially as Apresoline or Nepresol.
It is an oral and injectable medication, which acts as a vasodilator, being very effective in the treatment of individuals with high blood pressure.
Indications for Hydralazine
Arterial hypertension; heart failure, preeclampsia; eclampsia.
Side Effects of Hydralazine
Increased heart rate; Headache; palpitation.
Contraindications of Hydralazine
Pregnancy risk C; mitral valve disease; hypersensitivity to hydrazine.
How to use Hydralazine
Oral use
Adult
- Hypertension: Administer 40 mg per day, divided into 2 to 4 shots, for 4 days.
- Heart Failure: Administer 40 to 150 mg per day, divided into 2 to 4 doses.
Adults may take a maximum of 300 mg of hydralazine daily.
Kid
- Hypertension: Administer 0.75 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 2 to 4 shots.
Children may ingest at least 200 mg of hydralazine daily.
Injectable Use
Adult
- Inject 5 to 40 mg in muscle or vein.
Kid
- Inject 1.7 to 3.5 mg per kg of body weight per day divided into 4 to 6 doses in muscle or vein.
