Liposculpture is a plastic surgery where liposuction is performed to remove excess fat in a certain area of the body and then reposition it in strategic locations such as buttocks, facial furrows, thighs and calves for a better body contour and give a more beautiful appearance to the body.
The duration of this cosmetic surgery, which can be done in men and women, varies with the amount of fat aspirated, but usually takes between 1 to 2 hours, since in most cases 2 to 4 liters of fat is removed, in most cases there is no need for hospital admission.
Before and after liposculpturePrice of liposculpture
The value of liposculpture costs between 3 to 5 thousand reais, depending on the clinic, number of places to treat and type of anesthesia used.
How is the surgery done
The liposculpture is done with local anesthesia, which is infiltrated in the region where the excess fat will be removed. However, it can also be given epidural, in the case of liposuction of the abdomen and thighs or, just sedation, in the case of arms or chin, for example.
After the patient is anesthetized, the surgeon:
- Mark the skin to identify the place where the fat will be removed;
- It introduces anesthesia and serum into the skin, through small holes to avoid bleeding and pain and facilitating the exit of fat;
- It aspirates the excess fat that is under the skin with a thin tube;
- It separates the fat from the blood in a specific apparatus to centrifuge the liquids;
- Insert the fat into the new location you want to enlarge or model.
Thus, in liposculpture, the excess fat is removed and then used to be inserted in a new place of the body where there is lack of it, such as face, lips, twins or butt.
How is recovery
Usually, after a liposculpture, the patient gets pain and some bruising at the place where the fat was aspirated and the place where the fat was introduced becomes swollen and sore.
The recovery is gradual and takes between 1 week to 1 month, depending on the amount of fat removed and the place, but the first 48 hours are the ones that need more care. In this way, one should keep elastic straps and make no effort, trying to stay as long as possible lying in bed, but moving their legs frequently to prevent clots from forming.
In addition, one should take the pain medications prescribed by the doctor and remove the stitches at the end of 1 week.

Result of liposculpture
Some results are usually visible after 3 weeks; however, the definitive result can only be seen about 4 months after surgery due to reduced swelling and inflammation. Thus, in the place where the fat is removed, the curves are more defined, while in the place where the fat was placed, it becomes more round and filled, increasing the size and reducing the grooves.
Although it is not a surgery to lose weight, it is possible to lose some weight and the body is thinner because much of the localized fat is removed.
Possible Complications
Liposculpture is not a surgery that brings many complications and, therefore, the risk of complications is not high, however, the normal and frequent complications of liposculpture are the hematomas and pain, which decrease each day and that normally disappear after 15 days.
However, sometimes after surgery, seromas may appear, which are sites of semi-transparent fluid accumulation that, if not aspirated, can harden and form an encapsulated seroma that leaves the site hard and with an ugly scar.
