Hyperglycemia is excess blood sugar, which is one of the hallmarks of diabetes. The symptoms of hyperglycemia are:
- Dry mouth;
- Thirst;
- Too much urine;
- Hunger;
- Tiredness;
- Headache;
- Nipple;
- Somnolence;
- Difficulty breathing and
- Breath of apple or acetone (ketosis)
To know if the individual is hyperglycaemic, a rapid blood glucose test must be performed through the blood sugar meter. Values greater than 110 mg / dl in the fasted state and at 200 at any time of the day indicate hyperglycemia.
But most of the time the individual has no symptoms. These usually appear after a few days with excess blood sugar.
In the presence of hyperglycaemia, the individual should be taken to the doctor, or if he or she has to take an insulin injection in the stomach. Insulin is the medicine that every diabetic patient must have inside the wallet for use in an emergency.
