Pyr-Pam is a medication prescribed for the treatment of oxyuriasis, also known as enterobiasis, a parasitic infection caused by the parasite Enterobius vermicularis.
This remedy has in its composition pamoate of pyrvinium, a compound with vermifuge action, that promotes the exhaustion of the internal reserves that the parasite needs to survive, thus leading to its elimination.

How to take
The usual Pyr-Pam dose recommended is 1ml per kilogram body, for children and for adults. Adults can also choose to take 1 dram for every 10 pounds of body weight.
Pyr-Pam may be taken as a capsule or an oral suspension, which is best for children and the following doses are recommended:
- Pyr-Pam Capsules : Generally, for adults and children over 12 years of age is recommended to take 1 capsules per 10 kg weight. The capsules should not be broken, opened or chewed.
- Pyr-Pam in Suspension : Generally, for adults and children it is recommended to take 1 ml of suspension, per 1 mg of weight.
Side effects
Some of the side effects of Pyr-Pam may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, or stool discoloration. After its use, the stools may appear reddish, but without clinical significance.
Contraindications
Pyr-Pam is contraindicated for children weighing less than 10 kg, patients with allergy to pyruvnium pamoate or any of the ingredients in the formula.
