Oxacillin Sodium (Staficilin-N) is an FDA-licensed antibiotic used to combat penicillin-resistant microorganisms.
Indications
Infections caused by resistant strains of penicillin G, penumococcus and streptococcus.
Contraindications
People allergic to penicillin.
Side effects
Thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, leukocytosis, agranulocytosis, eosifilia, hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, transient interstitial nephritis, hyperactivity, nervousness, sleep disorders, mental confusion, hypertonia, dizziness, anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, gas, poor digestion, colitis pseudomembranous, vaginal, intestinal and oral candidiasis, headache, changes in transaminases.
How to use
Adults: 2 to 4 g / day IM or IV every 4 or 6 hours.
Children: 50 to 100 mg / kg / day IM or IV every 6 hours.
Infants: 25 mg / kg / day IM or IV.
