Primidone is a medicine known commercially as Primid.
This oral medication is an anticonvulsant, which acts on the central nervous system decreasing the likelihood of seizures.
Indications of Primidone
Focal epileptic crisis; psychomotor epilepsy crisis.
Side Effects of Primidone
Lack of muscle coordination; irritability; somnolence; vertigo; double vision; constipation; nausea; vomiting; lack of appetite; fatigue; weakness; impotence; dizziness.
Contraindications of Primidone
Pregnant or lactating women; liver diseases; asthma or any respiratory disease.
How to use Primidone
Oral use
Adults and children over 8 years old
- First to third day : Administer 100 to 125 mg of the medicine before bed.
- Fourth day : administer 100 to 125 mg of the medicine twice a day.
- Seventh to ninth day : administer 250 mg of the medicine, 3 to 4 times a day.
- Tenth day on : Administer 250 mg of the drug, 3 or 4 times per day.
