Lyxumia is an injectable solution used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, in combination with oral antidiabetic medicines, helping to control glycemic indexes.
The active principle of Lyxumia is lixisenatide, being produced by the Sanofi laboratory.
Indications of Lyxumia
Lyxumia is indicated for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who can not control glycemia with the use of antidiabetic medicines, exercise and diet.
How to use Lyxumia
The mode of use of Lyxumia consists of a daily injection, made as follows:
- Initial dose: 10 mcg once daily for 14 days;
- Maintenance dose : fixed dose of 20 mcg once daily from the 15th day;
Lyxumia should be injected 1 hour before the first meal of the day or 1 hour before dinner.
If you forget to take a dose, you should take it 1 hour before the next meal.
Side effects of Lyxumia
The most common side effects of Lyxumia are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hypoglycemia and headaches.
Contraindications of Lyxumia
Lyxumia is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to lixisenatide or to any of the components.
