Magadralto is an antacid medicine known commercially as Riopan.
This medication for oral use, acts to neutralize gastric acidity and decreasing the sensation of burning and discomfort, as in bouts of heartburn and gastritis.
Indications of Magaldrato
Heartburn; reflux esophagitis; acute gastritis; chronic gastritis; stomach ulcer; intestinal ulcer
Side effects of Magaldrato
Constipation; bowel obstruction; hyperacidity; Headache; nausea; irritability and weakness; decreased phosphate in the blood; increased magnesium in the blood (in patients with impaired renal function); increased aluminum in the blood, bones and central nervous system (risk of toxicity).
Contraindication of Magaldrato
Pregnant or lactating women; renal failure or renal disorder of any nature; gastric or intestinal obstruction.
How to Use Magaldrato
Oral use
Adults
- Heartburn; gastric disorders lead; gastritis; stomach ulcer; Reflux oesophagitis : Administer 800 mg (tablet) or 10 mL (gel), 4 times per day.
- Duodenal ulcer: Administer 800 to 1600 mg (tablet) or 10 to 20 mL (gel), 7 times a day.
Note: The medicine should be given 1 to 3 hours after the meal.
