To treat the tendon in the infant or child, a warm compress should be placed on the eye 3 to 4 times a day to relieve pain and swelling.
Generally, the stye in the child heals alone after about 8 days, so it is not necessary to use antibiotic ointments to treat the problem. However, if the symptoms do not improve after 1 week it is recommended to consult your pediatrician to start the appropriate treatment.
Already in the case of stye in the baby under 3 months of age it is always advised to go to the pediatrician before starting any type of treatment at home.
How to speed up recovery of the stye
During the treatment of the stye in the baby, it is necessary to have some care, such as:
- Do not squeeze or burst the stye as it may make the infection worse;
- Use a new gauze each time you make the warm compress, because the bacteria stays on the gauze, worsening the infection;
- Use a new gauze for each eye, if there is a trowel in both eyes, to prevent the bacteria from spreading;
- Wash your hands after making the warm compress on the baby, to avoid catching the bacteria;
- Wash your baby's hands several times a day as he can touch the terçol and pick up the other person;
- Wipe the eye with a warm gauze as the pus from the tendon begins to come out to remove all the pus and clean the baby's eye.
The baby can go to the nursery or, in the case of the child, to school, however, it is important to make warm compress before he leaves the house and when to return and wash several times during the day.
How to make warm compresses
To make the warm compresses, simply fill a cup with filtered warm water, check the temperature with the wrist so that it is not too hot not to burn the baby's eye, dip a sterile gauze and put in the eye with the tendon for 5 a 10 minutes.
Warm compresses should be placed in the baby's or child's eye about 3 to 4 times a day, and it's a good tip to place them when the baby is sleeping or nursing.

When to go to the pediatrician
It is recommended to go to the pediatrician when:
- The baby is less than 4 months old;
- A fever appears above 38º C;
- The terçol takes more than 8 days to disappear;
- The terçol reappears shortly after it disappeared.
