Ponstan is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory, which helps in relieving pain, especially rheumatic pain and fever treatment. In addition, Ponstan, composed of mefenamic acid, helps in relieving menstrual pain.
This medication can be found in pharmacies under the names Mefenan and Pontin, being manufactured by the Pzifer laboratory and should only be used at the doctor's recommendation.

Indications
This medicine is indicated for the treatment:
- Rheumatoid arthritis, Still's disease and osteoarthrosis;
- Ear pain, headache and pain after surgery, postpartum pain and during menstruation;
- Influenza and respiratory infections.
In addition, it can be used as an antipyretic from the age of 14.
Mode of Use
The use of Ponstan should be done orally by medical advice, and it is usually recommended 500 mg every 8 hours with meals.
Side effects
Using this medication can cause constipation, drowsiness, diarrhea and nausea.
Contraindications
The use of Ponstan should be avoided during pregnancy, during breast-feeding and for children under 14 years of age. In addition, in the case of severe allergy to aspirin, nasal polyps associated with bronchospasm induced by aspirin.
