To do waxing alone at home, you should first choose what type of wax you prefer, if it is hot and cold, depending on the regions you want to wax. For example, while hot wax is great for small areas of the body or strong, such as underarms or groin, cold wax is great for depilating larger areas or with weak hairs such as back or arms.
Cold wax is indicated for those who have varicose veins because it does not promote the dilation of blood vessels, being a great option for those who are traveling because it can be easily stored and transported. On the other hand, the hot wax is in most cases the most indicated since the heat dilates the pores of the skin, which facilitates the removal of the hairs and decreases the pain during the process. It is possible to prepare homemade hot wax, see How to How to Make Homemade Wax for Depilation.
Cold Wax Hair Removal Step by Step
To do waxing with cold wax alone follow these steps:
Step 1
Heat the wax by lightly rubbing the leaves between the hands or the upper leg for 10 to 15 seconds, then separating the leaves.
Step 2
Apply the epilation sheet in the direction of hair growth, repeating this process for all regions to depilate and reuse the sheet until it loses adhesion.
If hair grows on both sides, you should apply the sheet 1 time from top to bottom and then from bottom to top, changing the direction to ensure it removes all hairs.
Step 3
To remove the leaf, it should be pulled quickly and in the opposite direction to the growth of the hair, as parallel and as close to the skin as possible.
If you have not left all the hairs, you can repeat the application of wax or you can choose to remove the remaining hairs with tweezers.
This wax is especially indicated for those who have varicose veins or heat sensitivity, and should only be used when the hairs are already larger. When poorly applied it may not remove the hairs from the root, eventually breaking them.
Step by step of waxing with hot wax
To do waxing with hot wax you can use a roll-on or spatula, depending on the preference, and it is recommended to follow the following step by step:
Step 1
Put the wax to warm and when it is half liquid, test the texture by applying a few drops to a paper. If you think you have the right texture, you should apply a little on a small area of the body, such as the arm for example, to test texture and temperature of the wax.
Step 2
To perform hair removal, apply the wax with the roll-on or spatula in the direction of hair growth.
Step 3
Apply a sheet over the place where you placed the wax, and pull quickly and in the opposite direction to the growth of the hair, as parallel and as close to the skin as possible. If you have not left all the hairs, you can repeat the application of wax or you can choose to remove the remaining hairs with tweezers.
To reduce the pain at the time of epilation and to reduce the adhesion of the wax to the skin, a little powder of talc can be applied to the skin, then applying the wax to the epilation. In addition, after epilating you should spend a little baby oil to remove the wax debris, to loosen the depilated region and to pass some moisturizer.
After depilation it is normal to feel discomfort and irritation in the hair region, being common the appearance of redness in the skin. To relieve these symptoms, it is recommended to apply a moisturizing and soothing cream after depilation, and a cold compress can be applied to the affected area to reduce irritation and discomfort.
