To moisturize curly hair at home, it is important to follow a few steps such as washing the hair properly, with warm to cool water, apply the moisturizing mask, removing all the product well and let the hair dry naturally, preferably.
Curly hair should be washed only 2 to 3 times a week, and at least once a week should be hydrated because curly hair tends to be drier. Here's how to make homemade and natural recipes.
In this way, 3 steps to moisturize curly hair at home include:
1. Correctly wash the wires
The hair should be properly and gently rinsed prior to moisturizing to remove all oil and impurities from the hair, allowing the mask to work. To wash your curly hair properly is important:
- Use warm to cool water, because at this temperature the cuticles do not open, leaving the hair surface brighter;
- Avoid using too hot water, which opens the cuticle and dries the hair;
- Use a shampoo suitable for curly hair, preferably without salt;
- Put more shampoo at the root of the wires than at the lengths and ends as the oiliness is concentrated in the scalp.
In addition, an anti-waste shampoo may also be used prior to hydration to thoroughly clean the wires and remove any impurities. However, it should not be used at all hydrations, but only every 15 days.
2. Moisturize your hair regularly
To moisturize curly hair you should:
- Choose or prepare a moisturizing mask adapted for curly hair. See the recipe for a homemade moisturizing mask for curly hair;
- Squeeze the wires tightly to remove excess water, avoiding aggressively twisting the hair;
- Add about 20 mL of Argan oil to the moisturizing mask;
- Apply the moisturizing mask with Argan oil on hair strands, except the root, wick by wick;
- Let the mask act for 15 to 20 minutes;
- Rinse the hair thoroughly with cool, warm water, removing all the product to seal the cuticles of hair, avoid frizz and make hair brighter.
You can also put a rolled cap, bath cap or warm towel on the hair while the mask acts to increase the mask effect.
The conditioner should not be placed on the days when a moisturizing mask is applied, because the conditioner closes the hair cuticles, reducing the effectiveness of the mask.
3. Dry and groom the hair gently
After applying the moisturizing mask, you should:
- Dry the hair with a microfiber towel or an old cotton T-shirt to not dry the hair and remove the frizz ;
- Apply a leave-in adapted for curly hair so the hair stays softer and without frizz ;
- Comb the hair with a wide-toothed comb while it is moist;
- Let the hair dry to the natural, but if necessary use a drier with diffuser.
To keep hair curly and without frizz the next day, use a satin or silk pillowcase on the pillow and re-apply the leave-in on the wires in the morning, tidying the hair but not combing it.
