AndroGel® is a gel containing 1% testosterone that is indicated to increase testosterone levels in men. To use this gel, apply a small amount to the dry and full skin of the arms, shoulders or abdominal region so that the skin can absorb the product.
This medicine can be found in packs of 5, 7.5 or 10 g which may contain 50, 75 or 100 mg of testosterone.
Indications
Androgel is indicated to increase the testosterone concentration in men when indicated by the doctor. It is used for male hypogonadism that manifests itself through symptoms such as impotence, loss of libido, fatigue and depression. It is also indicated when there is testicular removal, torsion of the testicles, chemotherapy in the genital region, Klinefelter syndrome, luteinizing hormone deficiency, hormonal tumors, trauma or radiotherapy, and when the testosterone in the blood is low but the gonadotrophins are normal or low.

How to use
After opening Androgel sachet all contents should be removed and applied immediately to the uninjured and dry skin of the arm, shoulder or belly leaving the product to act throughout the day. Preferably the product should be applied after bathing and at night before bed so it is not removed by sweat of the day. The gel tends to dry in a few minutes but it is important to wash hands with soap and water soon after application.
Androgel should not be applied to the testicles and it is advisable to wait at least 6 hours after its application for bathing or entering the pool or sea.
Adverse effects
It can lead to increased hair, in addition to altered voice and increased muscle. It can cause a decrease in urine and increase the production of red blood cells. Other reactions that may occur are increased numbers of erections during the day, being more prolonged, nausea, vomiting, swelling of the legs, sleep during the day. When Androgel is discontinued, testosterone levels should return to values before treatment begins in as little as 5 days.
Contraindications
It is not indicated for women and is not indicated for men with renal or hepatic insufficiency, and in case of male breast cancer, prostate cancer or allergy to any of the components of the formula.
If the pregnant woman comes in contact with the skin of the area where the man applies Androgel should immediately wash the area with soap and water so as not to risk absorbing the product because it harms the baby.
