A widely used human scabies remedy is Benzyl Benzoate, which can be found in pharmacies under the trade name Miticoçan, Sarnilab, Acarsan, Benzotisan, Parasimed or Zilaben.
It should be applied to the body after bathing, letting it act overnight, being showered again the next day.
Other scabies or scabies remedies may be:
- Ivermectin, in the form of tablets;
- Permethrin, under the tradename Kwell or Nedax, which should be applied to the body, letting it act for 8 to 14 hours, bathing afterwards to remove the entire product.
These remedies work by killing the disease-causing mite as well as its larvae and eggs in order to decrease the duration of disease and symptoms such as itchy skin.
Remedies for human scabies
The remedies for child human scabies are the same and should be applied in the same way, however, in the case of benzyl benzoate, 1 part of the product should be diluted to 2 parts water for children up to 2 years and for children between 2 and 12 years, 1 part of the product to 1 part of water.
Homemade remedy for human scabies
An excellent home remedy for human scabies is to perform hot baths 2 to 3 times a day with a mild soap and shampoo to prevent the growth of mites. Other home remedy options can be:
- Massage with warm olive oil to soothe the skin, relieving itching;
- Smoking tea packs by placing 2 teaspoons of dried tobacco leaves in the water, boiling and then let stand for 10 minutes, strain, soak the pads or cloth in the tea and apply on the affected areas about 2 to 3 times a day to relieve the itching.
These home remedies may help in itching, but should not be used alone.
