Cryolipolysis is a type of cosmetic treatment performed to eliminate fat. This technique is based on fat cell intolerance at low temperatures, breaking off when stimulated by the equipment. Cryolipolysis guarantees the elimination of about 44% of the fat found in only one treatment session.
In this type of treatment is used an equipment that freezes the fat cells but to be effective and safe, the treatment must be performed with a certified device and with maintenance on day because when this is not respected there may be burns of 2º and 3º medical treatment is required.
Price and where to do cryolipolysis
Each cryolipolysis session costs between R $ 500 and R $ 700.00 per treatment area and can be done in aesthetic clinics and specialized medical offices. In Brazil, the device regulated by ANVISA is Zeltiq Aesthetic Inc, because it respects all the necessary characteristics, making the procedure safer, and the doctor or physiotherapist are the best professionals to carry out the cryolipolysis.
A more affordable option of aesthetic treatment to eliminate localized fat is lipocavitation, which can be done in 2 to 3 sessions and costs up to $ 150.00. Understand how lipocavitation is done.
How is the treatment done?
Cryolipolysis is a simple procedure that can be performed on various parts of the body, such as the thighs, abdomen, thorax, hip and arms, for example. To do the technique, the professional passes a protective gel on the skin and then positions the equipment in the region to be treated. Thus, the apparatus will suck and cool that area to about -7 to -10 ° C for 1 hour, than the time required for freezing of the fat cells. After freezing, the fat cells rupture and are eliminated naturally by the lymphatic system.
After cryolipolysis, it is advisable to perform a local massage session to standardize the treated area. In addition, it is recommended that at least 1 session of lymphatic drainage or pre-therapy be performed to facilitate the elimination of fat and to speed up the results.
There is no need to associate any other type of cosmetic procedure with the cryolipolysis protocol since there is no scientific evidence that they are effective. In this way, it is sufficient to perform cryolipolysis and perform drains regularly to have the desired result.
Before and after cryolipolysis
The results of cryolipolysis begin to appear in about 15 days but are progressive and take place about 8 weeks after treatment, which is the time the body needs to completely eliminate the fat that has been frozen. After this period the individual should return to the clinic to evaluate the amount of fat removed and then check the need to perform another session, if necessary.
The minimum interval between one session and another is 2 months, and each session removes approximately 4 cm of localized fat and therefore is not recommended for people who are not within the ideal weight.
Does cryolipolysis hurt?
Cryolipolysis can cause pain at the time the device sucks the skin, giving the sensation of a strong pinch, but that soon passes due to the anesthetic of the skin caused by the low temperature. After application, the skin usually turns red and swollen, so it is advisable to perform a local massage to relieve discomfort and improve the appearance. The treated region may become sore for the first few hours, but this does not cause great discomfort.
Who can not do cryolipolysis
Cryolipolysis is contraindicated for people with overweight, obesity, hernia at the site being treated, and problems with cold such as urticaria or cryoglobulinemia, which is a cold-related disease. It is also not recommended for pregnant women or with changes in skin sensitivity due to diabetes.
What are the risks
Like any other cosmetic procedure, cryolipolysis has its risks, especially when the apparatus is unregulated or when used improperly, which can result in severe burns that require medical evaluation. This type of cryolipolysis complication is rare, but it can happen and be easily circumvented. See other risks of freezing fat.
