How to use
The tablet of Aubagio must be ingested with a liquid, orally, once a day. This medicine may be given with or without food and the tablet should not be broken open or chewed.
Who should not use
Aubagio is contraindicated in people with hypersensitivity to leflunomide or to any component of the formula, pregnant women, who intend to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.
In addition, this medicine should also not be used by people with severe hepatic impairment, nor is it recommended for people under 18 years of age, people with serious bone marrow problems, or with a low number of red or white cells, or a reduced number of platelets, in the blood.
It should also be used with caution in people over 65 or diabetic because it contains sugar in its composition.
Possible side effects
The most common side effects that can occur with the use of Aubagio are diarrhea, nausea, decreased amount of hair strands and increase of alanine aminotransferase, which is an enzyme present in the liver.
Although they are less common, there may also be adverse effects such as influenza, sinusitis, viral gastroenteritis, decreased white blood cells, burning sensation, tingling and itching of the skin for no apparent reason, increased blood pressure, pain in the upper belly, toothache, reddening of the skin, musculoskeletal pain, excessive or prolonged bleeding during the menstrual period, increased liver enzymes, weight loss, and post-traumatic pain.
