The potassium permanganate bath can be used to help treat itching and heal common skin wounds, and is especially useful in cases of chicken pox, a common childhood disease that is also called chickenpox.
This bath serves to eliminate the bacteria and fungi of the skin, because it has antiseptic action, being a good cicatrizante for wounds of burns and chicken pox, for example.
The potassium permanganate bath can also be used in the shower bath to aid in the treatment of discharge, candidiasis, vulvovaginitis or vaginitis.
How to bathe with potassium permanganate
To take the bath of potassium permanganate, it is advised:
- Place 1 tablet of 100 mg of potassium permanganate in a bowl containing 4 liters of warm water until diluted.
Take a bath normally and in the end stay in the water with the potassium permanganate for a maximum of 10 minutes every day until the wounds completely disappear. After bathing, dry with a soft towel, without rubbing the skin, to avoid irritation. Do not stay in the water any longer so as not to irritate the skin.
Essential Care
It is important not to hold the tablet directly with your fingers, opening the package and dropping the tablet into the bowl where the water is, for example.
The tablets are corrosive and should not come into direct contact with the skin as they may cause irritation, redness, pain, severe burns and dark spots at the contact sites. However, when properly diluted the potassium permanganate is safe and causes no damage to the skin.
Care should be taken not to let the product come in contact with the eyes because the tablets, or very concentrated water, can cause severe irritation, redness and blurred vision.
The tablets can not be ingested either, but if this happens do not induce the vomit, being recommended to drink large quantities of water and to go to the emergency room as soon as possible.
