Ciclo 21 is a contraceptive pill that uses levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol as active substances and is used to prevent pregnancy and to regulate the menstrual cycle.
This contraceptive is produced by laboratories União Química and can be bought in conventional pharmacies, in cartons of 21 tablets, for a price of about 2 to 6 reais.
How to use
The method of use of Cycle 21 is to take one tablet daily, for 21 consecutive days, starting the 1st tablet on the 1st day of menstruation. After taking the 21 tablets, take a 7-day break, and menstruation should occur within 3 days after the last tablet is ingested. The new card must be started on the 8th day after the break.
What to do if you forget to take
When forgetfulness is less than 12 hours from the usual time, take the forgotten tablet as soon as it is remembered, and ingest the next tablet at the usual time. In these cases, the contraceptive protection of Cycle 21 is maintained.

Who should not use
Cycle 21 is contraindicated in children, elderly, pregnant women, suspected pregnancy, men, in patients with hypersensitivity to formula components, in breastfeeding, and in cases of:
- current or previous history of deep venous thrombosis or thromboembolism;
- stroke or narrowing of vessels supporting the heart;
- disease of the valves of the heart or of the blood vessels;
- diabetes with involvement of blood vessels;
- high pressure;
- known or suspected breast cancer or other known or suspected estrogen-dependent cancer;
- benign glandular tumor;
- liver cancer or liver disorders.
In these situations it is not recommended to take this medicine.
Possible side effects
The most common side effects that may occur during treatment with Cycle 21 are vaginitis, candidiasis, mood swings, depression, sexual appetite changes, headache, migraine, nervousness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, acne, leak bleeding, pain, tenderness, breast augmentation and discharge, changes in menstrual flow, absence of menstruation, fluid retention, and changes in weight.
