Idoxuridine is the active substance of an anti-viral drug known commercially as Herpesine.
This topical medicine is used to treat skin and mucosal lesions caused by the herpes virus.
The action of the drug prevents the development of the virus, which eventually weakens and loses the ability to produce new viruses. This action decreases the time and intensity of the disease.

How to Use Idoxuridine
Topic Use
- Apply to the affected region of the skin 3 or 4 times a day. Use up to 3 to 5 days after the lesions disappear.
