Some precautions in case of scarlet fever, which is a contagious disease caused by a bacterium, more frequent in children and adolescents up to the age of 15, and may also occur in adults, may be:
- Wash the child's clothing with hot water and soap separated from the rest of the individuals;
- Disinfect the child's personal belongings with a gauze or cotton swab soaked in alcohol;
- Give the child a warm bath, close to body temperature, and use a moisturizing liquid soap, without sponge and without rubbing the skin;
- Dry the child's skin very well and then pass a good quality moisturizer or oil all over the body when the skin begins to flake;
- Opt for a liquid and pasty food such as porridges, cooked fruits, cereals, soups, purees and water because of the inflammation of the throat.
Scarlet fever causes symptoms such as high fever, sore throat, and rashes that can cause itching. Treatment is usually done with antibiotics such as penicillin.
These care in case of scarlet fever should be maintained throughout the treatment for scarlet fever.
