From 9 months of age, the baby should start trying to eat minced foods such as ground beef, shredded chicken and well-cooked rice, without the need to knead all the food well or pass through the sieve.
At this stage, you should reduce the use of the bottle and encourage feeding with spoon and cup, so that the baby strengthens the muscles of chewing and is not lazy to eat. However, this is also the period when the teeth begin to be born and it is normal for the baby to refuse food at certain times of the day. See more about developing a 9-month-old baby.
Here are the recipes for meals for this stage of life.
Peach and banana cake
Peel the peach, remove the lump and beat the pulp in the blender. Put the peach juice in the baby's dish, knead half banana inside and add 1 tablespoon of powdered baby milk or oatmeal flakes, mixing everything before giving to the baby in the morning or afternoon snacks.
Avocado and Papaya Papaya
Knead on the baby's bowl 2 tablespoons avocado and 1 slice of papaya, and offer as dessert for lunch or dinner. It is important to remember that you should not add sugar to fruit jams because the baby should get used to the natural taste of food.
Chicken with rice and carrot
This meal may be served to the baby at lunch or dinner, but salt should not be added during meal preparation.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons chicken cubes
- 2 to 3 tablespoons of rice
- ½ small grated carrot
- ½ cabbage, chopped
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- Parsley, garlic and onion to season
Method of preparation:
In a saucepan, sauté the chicken into cubes and add water to cook. When the chicken is tender, add the rice and grated carrot to cook, and remove from the heat when everything is well cooked. In the same pan, sauté the chopped cabbage for 5 minutes.
Before serving, you should separate the chicken cubes from the rice and shred them or prick them before offering the baby, leaving the food separated on the plate so that it can learn the flavor of each.
Fish with sweet potato and zucchini
This meal can also be used for lunch or dinner, along with a glass of unsweetened fruit juice or a fruit cubed as dessert.
Ingredients:
- 50 g chopped fish
- 1 small sweet potato in large cubes
- ½ small zucchini
- 2 teaspoons chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- Chives, celery and garlic to season
Method of preparation:
In a small saucepan, heat the oil and sauté the onion and fish quickly. Add sweet potato, zucchini and seasoning, add 2 glasses of water and cover. Cook until the ingredients are tender. Before serving, you should chop the zucchini, knead the sweet potato and shred the fish, making sure there are no pimples. You can also add a strand of olive oil at the end.
