Amikacin sulfate is an antibiotic sold commercially under the name Novamin which can be used in various types of infection.
Indications
Respiratory, urinary tract infection in the skin and tissues, bone and caused by gram-negative bacteria resistant to gentamicin and gram-positive bacilli.
Contraindications
People with allergy to aminoglycosides.
Adverse effects
Passive or permanent hearing changes, dizziness, vertigo, lack of muscle strength, headache, paresthesia, tremor, fever, redness, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, joint pain, eosinophilia.
How to use
15 to 20 mg / kg / day divided into 2 or 3 administrations. In pre-mature babies: 10 mg / kg every 12 hours.
