Diamox is a diuretic medicine that reduces the formation of fluid in the body, thus lowering intraocular pressure. This medicine can also be found in pharmacies under the name Zolomox.
Indications
Edema; open-angle glaucoma.
Side effects
Increased blood glucose; decreased potassium in the blood; skin rash; lack of appetite; nausea; vomiting; somnolence; paresthesia.
Contraindications
Pregnancy risk C; breast-feeding; hyperchloremic acidosis; low sodium or potassium; hepatic insufficiency; renal insufficiency.

Adults
- Edema: 250 to 375 mg per day.
- Open-angle glaucoma: 250 mg to 1 g, per day, in divided doses every 6 hours.
