Atosiban is an active substance of a tocolytic medicine known commercially as Tractocile.
This injectable drug is indicated for preterm labor since its action is to bind to oxytocin receptors by decreasing the frequency of contractions and the tone of uterine musculature.

Contraindications of Atosibano
Hypersensitivity to the product; gestational age below 24 or above 33 full weeks; premature rupture of membranes with gestational age greater than 30 weeks; intrauterine growth retardation and abnormal fetal heart rate; intrauterine hemorrhage requiring immediate delivery; severe eclampsia and pre-eclampsia requiring childbirth; intrauterine fetal death; placenta previa; premature placental abruption; conditions in which continuity of pregnancy is dangerous for the mother or the fetus.
Mode of Use of Atosibano
Injectable Use
Adults
- Initial dose : Administer via direct intravenous, 6.75 mg (1 ampoule of 0.9 mL).
- 2nd stage: Administer 18 mg / hour (24 mL / hour) for 3 hours.
- 3rd Stage: Administer 6 mg / hour (8 mL / hr) for up to 45 hours.
The treatment should not exceed 48 hours. The infusion may be discontinued when the contractions cease.
